"Project Jemsire" Alpha 0.0.1

๐ŸŽฎ Welcome to Project Jemsire! - Dev Log #1

Hey everyone! ๐Ÿ‘‹

This is my very first dev log for what will hopefully become an awesome game, and honestly, I'm both excited and nervous to share this with you all. This is also my first real game release, so please bear with me as I figure things out!

๐ŸŒฑ The Very Beginning

Right now, Project Jemsire is in what I'd call "prototype stage zero" - we're talking incredibly early development here. But I believe in building games with the community from day one, so here we are!

Current Version: 0.0.1-ALPHA (and that ALPHA tag is doing some heavy lifting ๐Ÿ˜…)

โœจ What Actually Works Right Now

Despite being super early, there are already some fun little systems in place:

  • ๐Ÿšถ Basic Character Movement - You can walk around! Revolutionary, I know
  • ๐ŸŽต Background Music - Thanks to flaboy0404 for the tunes! Complete with toggle and volume controls
  • ๐ŸŸข Slime Buddies - Little AI slimes that wander around randomly (they're surprisingly charming)
  • ๐Ÿ”Š Audio Feedback - Walking sounds and slime noises bring the world to life
  • ๐Ÿ‘ฅ Multiplayer Foundation - Local/LAN multiplayer with synced movement and sounds

๐ŸŽฏ The Reality Check

Let's be completely honest here - everything is placeholder. The art, some of the sounds, probably half the code... it's all going to change. This is the digital equivalent of a sketch on a napkin, but it's a playable sketch on a napkin!

Things that will definitely break, change, or disappear:

  • All visual assets (they're very much programmer art right now)
  • Game mechanics (what even is the core gameplay? TBD!)
  • UI/UX (it exists, barely)
  • Probably the name (maybe?)

๐Ÿค Building Together

Here's the thing, I want to grow this game with the community, not just for the community. Your feedback, ideas, and even your complaints are going to shape where Project Jemsire goes.

Some questions I'm pondering:

  • What should the core gameplay loop be?
  • What's the deal with these slimes? Are they friends? Enemies? Neutral chaos agents?
  • Should multiplayer be co-op, competitive, or something else entirely?
  • What kind of world do you want to explore?

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Made With Love (and Godot)

This whole adventure is being built in Godot Engine, which has been an absolute joy to work with. Shoutout to the Godot community for making game development accessible to everyone with no royalties!

๐Ÿ”ฎ What's Next?

The next few updates will probably focus on:

  1. Better Art - Moving away from programmer rectangles and templates
  2. Core Gameplay Loop - Figuring out what this game actually is
  3. More Polish - Making everything feel less... prototypey

๐Ÿ“ข Stay Connected

If you want to follow along with this chaotic journey:

Seriously, join the Discord! I'd love to chat about ideas, get feedback, or just talk about game development in general.

๐Ÿ’ญ Final Thoughts

I know this isn't much to look at right now, but every great game started with someone moving a rectangle around a screen. Today's walking goblin could be tomorrow's beloved character!

Thanks for taking a chance on this tiny prototype. Whether you stick around for the whole journey or just check in occasionally, I appreciate you being here at the very beginning.

Let's build something awesome together! ๐Ÿš€

P.S. - If you find any bugs, they're not bugs, they're "unintended features" that add character to the experience. ๐Ÿ˜‰
